The Oath

After the song,  someone took the microphone an offered a short prayer. After he took his exit,  the two singers picked up each of their microphones and the music played again.

The beautiful woman in a pastel blue mini dress looked at Jia and smiled.

"Please follow me." She then walk gracefully ahead of them.

As Jim and Jia followed, Jia's hand on Jim's arm,  the singers started their song and somewhere in the middle of their song,  their voice blended beautifully. Jia was teary eyed. Jim was still confused, his heart beat crazily.

"For we know that You are faithful
Through the stillness and the storm
You've been with us from the start
Father we commit to you our

When they reached the front,  the beautiful lady pulled out two well - decorated seats and instructed them to seat down.

The judge, who was a close friend of kuya Nap, stood up.

"I am here this afternoon due to a very prompt request by Atty. Guevarra who happened to be my most admired buddy in the law industry. If not for our friendship,  I could not be here today in such a whirlwind manner." The judge shook his head and kuya Nap chuckled.

Jia smiled while Jim fidgetted in his seat. Giselle's eyes widened and sharpened while Anthon turned pale.

"Nevertheless,  we are all gathered today as the most important people this couple have recognized to be their witnesses on this very special day of their lives. Marriage... "

Jim took Jia's hand and  stole a glance at her. Jia pretended to be oblivious,  her eyes were fixed on the officiating judge.

After his short message, he asked the couple to stand up and face each other. "It is now time to exchange your vows. May I ask the bride to do it first." The judge knew very well the real story behind.

"Jim, "Jia began as she looked into his eyes. Then she reached out to hold his hands. "Forgive me for surprising you,  kuya Nap and Jian are my accomplices." Kuya Nap laughed,  he was the only one in those three close witnesses who was really enjoying.

"If it was not because of what you did last night on the party,  I would have waited for the grand and luxurious wedding you have prepared for me. Before your family and the rest of the protagonists take their actions to hinder it, I am determined to make the first move.
I hope in this way I can show you how much I love you from the deepest dimension of my heart. Today,  with these most important people of our lives as witnesses,  I am making my vow to stay with you and love you for the rest of my life.."

Jia's voice was now rough as she was holding back her urge to sob. She was giving her whole heart in this vow. Jim's eyes redenned as well.

"Jia,  I have always wanted to give you the fanciest wedding I could avail,  I have always wanted to see you in that most expensive gown I can afford..."His voice now cracked.

"Anyway, this is such a great surprise. You played the game very well with your powerful accomplices. In whatever ways,  I promise to love you more than myself all throughout my life.."

There was silence. As always, only Giselle's sobs was heard. Then,  the music played again.

Their eyes  then fell  on the little boy who marched down the aisle in the rythm of the music with his cute outfit. He looked too handsome as in his little arms was a red pillow and above it, were his
parents'wedding rings.

When he reached the front before his parents,  the judge picked his mic again.

"You have exchanged your vows and it's time to put the rings on each other's finger as the symbol of your love. It is to be worn on the left  because it is where a vein directly connected to the heart is located..."

"Take this ring as a symbol... " Jia and Jim took turns in placing the rings which were personally brought to them by their son.

Soon afterwards,  the judge recited the marriage oath...

"Jia,  do you take Jim to be your husband; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?"

"I do." Jia answered,  a mist was in her eyes.

"Jim,  do you take Jia to be your wife; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?"

" I sincerely do." Jim's eyes became gentle as ever as he looked into his bride.

The judge proceeded. "Witnesses please come forward for the signing of the contract. "

The judge's assistant laid out the paper in the table as kuya Nap and Giselle came forward. Jia and Jim placed their signatures afterwards and the judge finally sealed and signed them with his name.

After the signing was completed, the judge stood up straight and narrated his most important statement.

"With the power and authority vested upon me,  I now pronounced you as husband and wife..." He paused and then turned to Jim. "You may now kiss your bride."

The stunning groom,  who was not in his best wedding costume that he wished,  reached out his arm around the nape of his most beautiful bride in a very simple dress. Their first and longest kiss now took place...

After that million - dollar kiss,  Jim then hugged his bride as tears fell upon his eyes. She was now legally his...all his...

The judge then took his final role.
"It is my honor and great privilege to be the first to introduce you as "Dr.  and Mrs.  Jim Wayne."

A melancholic sound of applause was then heard. All of them who were present,  including the assistants,  usherrettes and musicians took turns in congratulating the newly-wed.
